Hi. My name is Johanne or better known as Jo here at the clinic. Growing up having to listen to my body due to an autoimmune condition I have always had strong intuition. Since I was little I have been drawn to holistic healing, following my intuition and constantly wanting to find balance in all aspects of my world. After many years of working in a high stress environment and just as the world turned upside down in early 2020 I was guided to learn how blocked energy can get stored in your chakras and throughout your body. Yet, by using reflexology, reiki and sound healing your body can return to homeostasis instead of always being in fight or flight. I am a registered reflexologist and reiki master and also offer sound healing. I meditate on a daily basis, use 100% pure essential oils to help when needed and incorporating oils in my daily life. I look forward to meeting you, holding space for wherever you may be in your life and supporting you on your journey.

An interesting “chain of events” has brought me here, to this point in my life. I feel like all of my past experiences and failures were all in preparation for this business….PetalRoot. After eleven years of incredibly satisfying work as a Paramedic I developed PTSD and I suddenly became unable to function and cope with everyday tasks. I would rarely leave my house and I would often spend hours hiding in my bed physically shaking. I suffered from insomnia, anxiety and crippling feelings of doom. It was during this time that I began to search for something…..anything to find some relief. I came across a lady who combined full body massage with energy work and after several treatments I could feel the gentle healing starting to take place. I was already a Reiki Master but after experiencing the power of both of these techniques combined I decided that this was the direction my life must go. I went to the Vancouver School Of Bodywork And Massage and took the Spa Therapy Course. There I was empowered to combine physical bodywork using several pressure point modalities such as Reflexology and Shiatsu with Reiki. Holistic health and wellness treats both the physical and energetic body. This is my passion!

Hi my name is Chelsea and I am a Reflexologist, Reiki Teacher for the Canadian Reiki Association and Holistic Massage Practitioner. My passion is providing people with a safe and loving space to receive, be taken care of and feel loved and supported during this powerful time of change and awakening. After years of trying to do ‘normal’ 9-5 jobs and dealing with crippling anxiety as a result, I realized I couldn’t spend time in spaces where you need to feel buttoned up or masked. Places where you can’t be vulnerable or talk about experiences beyond the norm. I moved on to create a practice where I can provide that space for people to come and be their true selves, share without judgement and after almost 10 years in practice I still love seeing the magic that happens when we connect and let down these guards. I specialize in Relaxation, Calming the nervous system, Gentle pain relief, Emotional release and Providing spiritual guidance.

I look forward to meeting you!

How I found myself becoming a holistic wellness practitioner is I was diagnosed with Long Covid and specifically Mast Cell Activation Syndrome, Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome, Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, and Myofascial Pain Syndrome. That diagnosis shook me to my core, emotionally and physically. I felt overwhelmed, lost, and helpless. I needed support to get out from under my symptoms and I found it in holistic practices. I’ve walked a tough path back to health and I want others who may be struggling and experiencing the same feelings to know, you’re not alone. There is a path to wellness for you.

I am happily married to my husband and a mom to two daughters who are both grown. My hobbies include kayaking, exploring trails, playing with my three cats, and talking to the bees in my backyard. Most days you’ll find me in my garden, bare feet and hands in the soil, soaking up all the energy the earth and the sun provide.

I credit two main things to my approach to holistic wellness and self care - one, spending nine years working in the spa and wellness industry. And two, growing up surrounded by the beautiful Rocky Mountains in Canmore, Alberta. I refer to 2020 as the year of my holistic education. I attended my first year of RMT school, completed my level 1 and 2 reiki certification and completed my yoga teacher training. This was the upside of 2020 for me, finally stepping into what I always thought was destined for me.

Since moving to Kamloops in 2021, I have been treating clients and really flexing those practitioner muscles, no pun intended. I truly feel I have come into my own style and rhythm and adding reflexology to my offerings has just brought me even closer to my calling and passion. I feel such happiness and achievement when I have clients leave feeling more relaxed, in more relief and in less pain. I take a holistic approach to wellness and like to incorporate energy work into my massage therapy treatments and the motto ‘leave it better than you found it’ applies to my work and my life.

A lot of clients will find an emotional response to the work we do, and I am here to hold space for you. I believe that you cannot pour from an empty cup and I am here to help you refill yours so you can be the best version of yourself, without risking a drought of self. I have learned so much over the years about PTSD and how trauma can lock itself in the body and impact the functionality of our organs, endocrine system and nervous system, and I believe wholeheartedly this can be combated with regular self care including massage, reflexology and yoga - just to name a few.

I look forward to meeting and treating you.

Hello Everyone. I am the mother of three sons and also I work as a psychiatric nurse part time. Keeping “one foot in the door” as a nurse, I am passionate about being a holistic practitioner at PetalRoot! I value having fun and experiencing joy in my everyday life. I believe we create our own reality and I’m grateful daily for the life that I live. In the past I studied the ‘healing touch’ energy modality, which is similar to reiki. Now that I have taken some reiki courses, I find that I resonate much more with this form of energy healing, as it is both powerful and uncomplicated. I also studied reflexology many years ago under Chris Shirley. I had several years afterwards of not utilizing this skill, but now that I work at PetalRoot I have the opportunity to bring the reflexology modality into my practice. Being a naturally compassionate and nurturing soul, assisting people on their healing journey, really fills up my cup . In nursing, I spend time with my clients allowing them to feel heard and validated. Approaching my life with integrity, keeping my intentions pure and authentic enables me to contribute in a way that is both uplifting and loving to others. Last year I delved into learning about crystals and their healing powers, and making bracelets has become one of my latest passions. When I am not working, you will likely find me out in nature. I enjoy hiking, swimming in lakes, refinishing furniture, cooking for my family, writing lists, and dreaming of buying an acreage. These are a few of my favourite things!
